Geofencing

Create virtual perimeters around real world locations to keep your workers safe.

How does Geofencing work?

Geofencing is a location-based service that can then be used to track when a Peoplesafe product enters or exits the defined area. The feature uses GPS signals from the app or device to report regular positional information to determine where the device is and when to send a notification or SMS to the user.

Using the Peoplesafe Portal, a location of interest can be marked by entering a postal code. This will capture the location’s latitude and longitude coordinates. A geofence perimeter will automatically set a 5-mile radius of which this proximity can be adjusted to suit.

Example: Geofence a high crime geographic area where there is a personal safety risk to staff. As the employee enters a high-risk area, they can receive an SMS notification advising to set a timed activity on their Peoplesafe device.

Geofencing events

There are four Geofence events available with this feature:

  1. Geofence In – When the device first enters the area. An SMS alert can be sent.
  2. Geofence Out – When the device first exits the boundary of the geofence region.
  3. Geofence Violation – When the device first leaves the geofence area, and remains outside the area at multiple positions.
  4. Geofence Alarm – When the device first leaves the geofence area, and remains outside the zone, at multiple positions. This will activate an alarm direct to our ARC controllers.
