As a responsible employer, TalkTalk understands they have a duty of care to all staff whether they’re office-based or on the road. If an employee suffers harm at work, organisations may find themselves in breach of numerous pieces of health and safety legislation.

With this in mind, Alan Cowlishaw, Compliance Engineer for TalkTalk, was tasked with finding a reliable technology system for employee protection that was both easy to use and cost-effective.

Compact and Convenient Technology

After thorough research, Peoplesafe emerged as the preferred choice for TalkTalk’s employee safety needs.

The small size of the MySOS device was a key factor in their decision to use Peoplesafe.

Empowering Engineers

TalkTalk selected 120 MySOS to enhance the safety of its Engineers entering people’s homes and working in remote areas.

The keyfob-sized alarm enables staff to discreetly call for help in an emergency at the touch of a button. With GPS technology, two-way audio communications, fall detection, and voice memo functionality, the MySOS is the complete, fully accredited solution for vulnerable employees.

Rapid Emergency Response

In the event of an incident, a TalkTalk employee can activate the alarm on their MySOS device. The alarm is sent to Peoplesafe’s 24/7 control centre. Here, specially trained Alarm Controllers answer the call and swiftly assess the situation. Leveraging detailed user information including their job role, recorded activity and medical history, they can coordinate an appropriate response.

This may involve dispatching emergency services, activating Peoplesafe’s National Response Service, or contacting those specified on the user’s escalation plan. With GPS functionality enabled, the MySOS device allows Alarm Controllers to pinpoint the user’s location in real-time, ensuring help arrives on scene in the quickest possible time.

Seamless Safety Management

An integral part of the service is the online management portal, Nexus. Alan comments:
