L&Q Housing
L&Q is one of the UK’s largest housing providers, managing over 110,000 homes and providing housing for more than 250,000 residents. To deliver these services, L&Q employs a diverse workforce, with many employees working directly with the public, carrying out vital roles such as housing support, property inspections and repairs.
With so many staff often working alone or in unpredictable situations, keeping everyone safe is a top priority.
A system that works for everyone
As their previous five-year contract came to an end, L&Q went out to tender for a new safety system that would be easier to manage and better suited to the needs of their teams. The solution needed to be flexible, providing the right level of protection for each employee based on their role and risk profile.
At the same time, administrators needed a system that was simple to implement, easy to manage, and provided accurate, up-to-date data.
Peoplesafe stood out as the ideal solution. Frontline staff who regularly visit residents, properties, or sites were equipped with MySOS devices, while employees who go out less frequently and face a lower risk profile use the Peoplesafe app. Both options provide reassurance and immediate access to emergency response when needed.

Alongside robust protection for staff, L&Q needed a system that gave managers clear oversight of usage and compliance. During the tender process, Peoplesafe’s Nexus platform quickly stood out as a solution that could meet these requirements. Matt David, Senior Health & Safety Advisor, says:
Nexus allows managers to run their own reports on a weekly or monthly basis, providing base-level assurance that devices and apps are being used correctly and that teams are using the service as intended. Higher-level reports give a clear picture of overall usage and alignment with KPIs, helping the organisation track compliance and staff safety effectively.

Real-time data has been a major improvement over L&Q’s previous system, which often had delays of several days. “Nexus is very easy to understand, the data is accurate, and it’s flexible,” says Matt. “We can create any reports we want and send them to whoever needs them.”
L&Q has also praised the support they receive from the Peoplesafe tech team, helping with custom requirements and improvements to the system. As Sally explains,

Another key factor in choosing Peoplesafe was its API functionality, which has significantly simplified administrative processes for L&Q. “I was particularly drawn to the fact that Nexus could do API integration to enable automatic imports of staff details,” says Matt.
The integration ensures that critical information, such as escalation plans, are always up to date, even when staff or line managers change. It also streamlines user management via Active Directory, automatically handling joiners, leavers, and role changes. As Sally says,

Seamless implementation
Following the decision to switch to Peoplesafe, the focus shifted to implementing the system seamlessly across the organisation.
The rollout of Peoplesafe across L&Q was closely managed and carefully supported to ensure a smooth transition. Regular check-ins with the Peoplesafe team allowed the L&Q team to raise any questions or specific requirements during implementation.
Matt David, adds, “The rollout process was great, it was all made very easy for us.” The hands-on guidance and clear, responsive communication from the Peoplesafe team ensured the roll out was fast and efficient.

Alongside implementation support, Peoplesafe’s training resources ensured staff could access guidance whenever they needed it. The library of webinars, guides, and Helpcentre articles meant employees could learn in a way most suited to their needs to build confidence in using the service.
