Seven Asset Management

Seven Asset Management is a commercial fleet management company, supplying HGV contract hire and fleet management services to some of the UK’s largest manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and numerous other industries.

Founded in 1997, the company has over 2,000 vehicles nationwide from trucks and vans to specialised refrigeration containers. To help keep drivers moving, Seven’s operations team carries out repairs and maintenance around the clock. Naturally, this means mobile engineers spend a lot of time on the road, visiting a variety of premises, at times, during unsociable hours.

Risk Identification

Throughout their daily operations, employees at Seven Asset Management encounter a diverse range of risks. These include the inherent dangers of driving, including hazardous weather conditions and congested traffic, which heighten the potential for accidents and collisions.

While visiting other sites they may also encounter safety hazards like slippery floors and heavy machinery. Most concerningly, the nature of their tasks frequently requires employees to work alone or in remote locations, where accessing assistance in emergencies can be challenging.

Prioritising Employee Safety

Recognising the critical importance of employee safety, particularly for their mobile engineers who are constantly on the move, Seven sought a solution to provide fast assistance to on-call engineers in times of need.

With engineers often working in varied and sometimes challenging environments, including areas with poor mobile coverage, Seven prioritised a solution that would offer backup 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, wherever they were working – even in areas where mobile coverage was poor.

Choosing Peoplesafe Technology

Seven discovered that Peoplesafe’s service, via the MySOS device was the perfect fit for the company, providing exactly what they needed at a cost-effective price.

The discreet unit, designed specifically for vulnerable workers, allows access to a monitored UK-based Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) at the press of a button. Alarm Controllers are specially trained to respond to emergency situations and can follow bespoke procedures specified by the company to either inform designated staff or escalate to the emergency services if required.

So, if engineers suffer an accident or find themselves in a difficult situation, reaching for the MySOS could potentially save their life.

Providing a Lifeline in Challenging Situations

The MySOS can also be equipped with fall detection functionality, which uses impact sensors to automatically raise an alarm if a user were to slip or fall, removing the need for manual intervention.

In this eventuality, Alarm Controllers can locate and get help to the worker quickly, as the device will send their position using GPS, backed up by What3Words integration. The accuracy of this feature was particularly impressive to Seven, as it enabled units to be tracked within 5m2.

When asked about his thoughts on Peoplesafe, Training Manager, John Marshall commented, “it’s nice to know our staff are looked after.”

Streamlined People Management

Administration and management of the service are streamlined through the intuitive Nexus platform, offering robust tools and reporting functions for managers to access detailed data on alarm activations and device usage.

Details of escalation procedures and personal information, such as preexisting medical conditions, can also be supplied via Nexus, to aid Alarm Controllers in effectively managing incidents.

Seamless Simplicity

Overall, the simplicity and effectiveness of the service help set Peoplesafe apart. All staff have to do is remember their device, clip it onto their belt and then they’re ready to go.

“We would certainly recommend Peoplesafe to other organisations looking to protect their lone workers. The service is exceptional.”
