Are You ‘Protect Duty’ Ready?
Protect Duty, also known as Martyn’s Law, is a proposed piece of UK legislation that expected to come into force by 2023.
Officially titled the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, it aims to better protect visitors, staff and the wider public from terrorism in public accessible locations (PALs). The first draft of the bill identifies the premises that will be expected to meet the legislation starting with places that have a capacity over 100 people including entertainment venues, places of worship, museums and government buildings. Enhanced duties will be put on premises with a public capacity of more than 800 people.
