Lone Worker Alarm FAQs
What is a lone worker alarm?
A lone worker alarm is a device or app that allows an employee working alone to raise an alert when they need assistance. Monitored solutions connect the worker to a professional response service and can provide location information during an emergency.
How does a lone worker alarm work?
When an SOS alarm is activated, the alert is sent to Peoplesafe’s 24/7 Alarm Receiving Centre. Trained Alarm Controllers assess the situation, use available worker and location information and follow the organisation’s agreed escalation process.
What happens when a lone worker presses the SOS button?
The alarm connects the worker to Peoplesafe’s Alarm Receiving Centre. The Controller will assess the available information and speak to the worker if safe to do so. Depending on the situation, the Controller may contact escalation contacts or emergency services.
Can a lone worker alarm locate an employee?
Yes. Supported Peoplesafe solutions use GPS, Wi-Fi positioning and What3Words integration to help identify the worker’s location during an emergency.
Can a lone worker alarm detect a fall?
Yes. Supported devices and apps include fall detection, which can automatically raise an alarm if a qualifying fall is detected and the worker may be unable to press SOS themselves.
Which lone worker alarm is right for my organisation?
The best option depends on how and where your employees work. Peoplesafe offers dedicated devices such as MySOS, discreet ID badge protection and smartphone-based lone worker apps for different roles and risk environments.
